movement

through yoga, meditation, and dance

have you experienced trauma? It’s likely we could all say we have in different ways. for many, this pandemic has been traumatic and caused extreme stress. did you know this stress is held in your body?

Trauma victims cannot recover until they become familiar with and befriend the sensations in their bodies. Being frightened means that you live in a body that is always on guard. Angry people live in angry bodies. The bodies of child-abuse victims are tense and defensive until they find a way to relax and feel safe. In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them. Physical self-awareness is the first step in releasing the tyranny of the past.

Movement can help you help. You will start to gain an appreciation of your life and your strengths. There will be improvements in your relationships and somatic symptoms. You will be able to work towards long-term goals and find new possibilities for yourself.

Movement is a way to become more aware. To gain confidence. To love yourself.

trauma is a fact of life. it does not, however, have to be a life sentence.
